The UAE: How Do Expatriates Cancel Their Entry Permits?

UAE is home to a huge expat population, in fact, close to 85 percent. Some people stay in the Emirates even after retirement and indulge in some business activities, whereas others, a majority of them, return to their respective native places for good. Those who leave the UAE have no option but to cancel their visas. But how many expats in the country know that they can themselves cancel their entry permits? Yes, they can apply to cancel their entry permit on their own. There are three ways to do the same– personal account, government establishment account and typing centres.

Provided underneath are the step-by-step processes permitted by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship Customs and Port Security (ICP) to rescind the entry permit:

Personal Account:

  1. Sign in to the ICP account and open a new account
  1.  Provide a request to cancel an entry permit and attach the service requirements
  1.  Give the fees and financial assurances, if any, and then dispatch the application
  1.  Receiving and checking the request by the Authority’s employees
  1.  Get the notification of approval

Government Establishment Account:

  •  Sign in to the ICP account and open a new account
  •  Give a request to cancel an entry permit and attach the service requirements
  •  Pay the fees and financial guarantees, if any, and then send the application
  •  Receiving and checking the request by the Authority’s employees
  •  Receive the notification of approval

Typing Centre Account:

  •  Go to any of the approved printing offices
  •  Give a request to cancel an entry permit and attach the service requirements
  •  Pay the fees and financial guarantees, if any, and then send the application
  •  Receiving and checking the request by the Authority

The expats are free to choose any of the methods that suit them. But they must cancel their UAE entry permits before going back to their homelands.
