New faces are joining the high-profile league of Indian-origin tech leaders such IBM chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Adobe chairman, president and CEO Shantanu Narayen.
Indian-American Parag Agrawal is the latest to join the elite tech honchos’ club. Parag Agrawal, the Chief Technology Officer of Twitter, is set to become the Chief Executive Officer. He will be taking over the position from Jack Dorsey, who will be stepping down from his role.
Agrawal, 37, is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He did his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT-Bombay. He graduated in 2005 and then completed his PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University. Then, he joined Twitter 10 years ago, in October 2011, as a Distinguished Software Engineer. On March 8, 2018, he was appointed Twitter CTO.
While studying at Stanford, he had worked as a research intern for Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T Labs.
Agrawal joins the team of leading techies, taking Indian talent to new heights. Here is the list;
Arvind Krishna, IBM
Arvind Krishna has been the CEO of IBM, the world’s one of the oldest companies, since April 2020. He, later on, January 2021, took on the role of chairman as well. Krishna is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft
Hyderabad-born Satya Nadella was appointed as Microsoft’s CEO in 2014. This year, he was also made the chairman of the company.
Sundar Pichai, Alphabet
Born in Madurai, Sundar Pichai was appointed as the CEO of Google in 2015. He joined the company in 2004. Pichai graduated from IIT Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering.
Shantanu Narayen, Adobe
Shantanu Narayen was appointed the CEO of Adobe in 2007. Before that, he served as the Chief Operating Officer for two years. He joined the company in 1998. He was born in Hyderabad and also completed his Bachelor’s degree in the city.
Anjali Sud – Vimeo
Anjali Sud became the CEO of Vimeo in 2017. She joined the company in 2014. She holds degrees from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Harvard Business School.
Raghu Raghuram, VMware
Raghu Raghuram was appointed as the CEO of Enterprise software major VMware in June 2021.
This year in February, Google Cloud announced Bikram Singh Bedi’s take over as its new Managing Director for India replacing Karan Bajwa. Bedi set up the Amazon Web Services (AWS) operations in India.
On the other hand, Karan Bajwa has been promoted to take responsibility for the Asia Pacific to lead all regional revenue and go-to-market operations for Google Cloud.
