Previously, birth certificates used to be issued through dedicated offices located in Abu Dhabi across various healthcare facilities. The presence of parents or legal guardians were a must to process all the required documents.
Currently, it is stated that newborn birth certificates have to be issued within a period of 30 days from the date of birth.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has highlighted the latest developments introduced to its WhatsApp services for issuing birth certificates, and its collaborative browsing service as part of the UAE Innovation Month 2022, on 24 February 2022. MoHAP stated that these innovative services will enrich customer experience and facilitate smooth communication channels with the help of advanced systems.
“This comes in line with our commitment to play a pivotal role in realising the digital government objectives,” MoHAP stated.
The WhatsApp service relies on artificial intelligence to respond to customer inquiries effectively through a virtual assistant. It allows users to take benefit of the service easily and quickly.
Through it, customers will now be able to receive birth certificates without the need to visit any of MoHAP customer service centres.
MoHAP stated that the service is also end-to-end encrypted within an authenticated WhatsApp account. It has the highest levels of security and reliability is guaranteed. Also, the collaborative browsing service covers two of MoHAP’s priority services, including healthcare professionals’ assessment and licensing of pharmaceutical facilities.
It allows support teams to access customers’ screens so that they can effectively guide and direct the user to fill out forms correctly. The service also includes video calls and visual communication, instant chat and file sharing.
The annual Innovation Month allows MoHAP to highlight its latest services, which are designed to make residents’ lives easier, said Abdullah Ahli, acting assistant undersecretary for support services at the MoHAP.
“MoHAP is making every effort to keep pace with the latest technological developments, adopt latest artificial intelligence techniques, employ smart predictive techniques to analyse data and digitise government work,” Ahli said.
In December 2021 as part of digital transformation efforts and in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Government Services platform, TAMM, the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the emirate, announced that birth certificates for newborns can be issued digitally through TAMM platform.
The new digital system has become effective from 30 December 2021 and applies to newborns across the emirate. Individuals seeking to issue additional certificates for previous birth dates issued from any of the emirate’s hospitals can also make use of the service.
