Six million people were living in the UK belonging to different nationalities (9% of the total population) as of June last year. As per news sources, out of these 6 million close to 1.5 million happened to be Indians, including migrants and those who were born in the UK. This shows the multi-culture environment in the country and how its economy is benefiting.
The UK is also constantly looking to attract talented foreign workers to its country to enrich its economy further. In this endeavour, the UK government recently announced the launch of the new scale-up visa scheme. This initiative is intended to help UK’s top-notch and best-performing businesses to bring the world’s exceptional talents such as scientists, engineers, architects, programmers, and other skilled professionals to work for the country.
What Exactly Is This Scale-up Visa?
Going by what’s mentioned on the official website, the scale-up visa will assist businesses to hire individuals with superior skills and then the employees will get 2 years’ leave to be in the UK devoid of further sponsorship or permission beyond the first 6 months. This is aimed at strengthening its pool of highly skilled employees and helping the gradually evolving companies in the country to gain further momentum.
Eligibility To Hire Via Scale-up Visa
As per the UK government, companies that have managed to secure growth of 20% or more, in terms of income year-on-year for at least 3 years and hiring at least 10 people at the start of the 3 years, will be permitted to bring talented individuals through the scale-up visa. Meanwhile, some entrepreneurs have given thumbs up to the move and said that it will allow them to get highly skilled people on board quickly.
Just A Tip Of The Iceberg
This is a good move on the part of the UK as it shows that the country is gradually emerging from the scars of Corona to amp up economic activities in the country. Even previously, they have launched similar visa schemes to bring in highly skilled professionals to work for the country. This would also be good news for the Indians who were finding it hard to get better opportunities for the last two years. Hope there are more such initiatives from the UK in future and the scale-up visa happens to be just the tip of the iceberg.
