Diwali, the festival of lamps, is celebrated with great enthusiasm all across the world. The occasion marks the return of Hindu god Lord Rama to Ayodhya in northern India after he defeated Ravana, the mighty king of Lanka.
This year, Diwali fell on November 4 and global Indians are still in the celebration mood.
In New York City, Diwali-themed animation adorned the iconic One World Trade Center. The animation went live on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. and continued until Nov. 4 at 2 a.m. It included a firework display with a view from both sides of the Hudson River.
“There is no better symbol of the triumph of resiliency than the World Trade Center and we are very fortunate to work with The Durst Organization to bring this message to all,” said Rahul Walia, Indian American founding trustee of the South Asian Engagement Foundation.
